'Launch will start from Sunday in compliance with health rules and physical distance'

Dhaka (Channel TT): As per the government decision, all the boats will run on the previous charter from next Sunday. At the same time, BIWTA Chairman Commodore Golam Sadeq has instructed to launch the launch in compliance with hygiene rules and physical distance.

He was speaking after a meeting with the launch owners' association and boat workers at the BIWTA building on Friday.

As per the decision of the government, the meeting was held from May 31 to take necessary steps for the operation of passenger launches and vessels on a limited range of inland waterways in compliance with the health rules.

Golam Sadeq said, "We have not made any decision about increasing the rent." Friday's meeting basically discussed how to start the launch operation in compliance with the hygiene rules. However, if the number of passengers is less due to physical distance, then the fare increase will be discussed with the launch owners. However, care must be taken not to put pressure on the public.

The meeting was attended by Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Launch Owners Association and senior officials of the Ministry of Shipping, BIWTA.
